Mark Gamasan is currently the Executive Sous Chef Of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. He is a Toronto born Chef however spent the first 12 years of his childhood growing up in the Philippines.
He attended George Brown Chef School in Toronto,during this time he found a fine dining restaurant called George, Chef Lorenzo Loseto was willing to take on an apprentice, this is the place where he learned the basics of working in a restaurant, after learning and rising through the ranks for a few years at George, he decided that he needed more experience and that’s where he landed at Scaramouche, where he learned a more classical way of french cooking.
After Scaramouche, an opportunity came to be part of the opening crew of Momofuku Daisho, a new restaurant where he learned various new skills, modern techniques and different flavour combinations. Within a few years learning all the stations and learning what it takes to open a restaurant, it is time to move on to take on more of a leadership role at an establishment.
He took a job as a Banquet Sous Chef at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club and after 2 years as a Banquet Sous eventually he was moved up to his current position.
